It is probably due to NatGeo’s fear of being embroiled into one
of the myriads of Cancel culture,Woke & social correctness
hysterics…you can imagine and put together the rest. It is sheer
pusillanimity and the adherence of “cognoscenti” to these simplistic theories that will eventually drive Us back into the Dark Ages -

I loved this show, I watched the whole season from beginning to end. Before I started it I always check if it’s going to go on or be canceled. I read it would go on with new plot twists and surprises. So I invested in the show and now I feel ripped off. My husband hates TV but he even loved this show. WHY OH WHY did you drop this great to watch the scenery the acting the story was all great. I was recommending other invest their time.

One of the best new shows of 2020 and they cancelled it????? I wish they would at least tell us why it is cancelled. This is not the first time a show has had 1 season and then it’s cancelled. I remember the show Almost Human. Loved that one and it was cancelled too. Explanations please???

I have officially stopped watching any tv series until the series is complete for this very reason. I loved this show. I waited an entire year for the release of season 2 only to find out they freakin cancelled it?!! With no closure once again. Currently watching boardwalk empire, there’s no way this one can be canceled it’s already wrapped. Networks seem to cancel so many well loved series only to leave dream and treasure hunting shows (spoiler they never find anything no matter how dramatic the music is before the commercial break).

I am no lover of the PC obsessed hysteria that we are currently living in, but I think it’s being canceled has zero to do with some form of politically correct agenda. For starters, I’ve watched the series several times, and I don’t see anything in it’s content that meets the usual content that gets the typical PC fanatic foaming at the mouth. I can back that up with a little proof. I’ve read many of the viewers reviews on IMdB, and of the many complaints that people gave who gave the show a bad review, none were PC in nature. No, at the risk of making myself sound like an egotistical snob, nearly every complaint about the show were by fairly dull, relatively… dare I say, dumb people. The show requires that the lights are on in the ol’ noggin of the viewer, and a reasonable ability to pay attention. These are more rare these days than I realized. Most people wrote very favorable reviews, but I was surprised by the number of bad reviews. Those that gave bad reviews had the most pathetic complaints, that I frankly felt embarrassed by how absurd they were. Many of the comments were things like, “the accents were terrible” as well as, “the costumes seemed amateur like a high school play.” “The acting was terrible”, “the plot made no sense.” “I don’t believe a boy would stab his parents just because someone told him to!” Etc. Etc. Anyway, I LOVED this show, and am bummed that it won’t continue. I WILL send a message to National Geographic requesting not to kill it. People have saved shows before through email campaigns. Maybe you will too. 👍

Rumor has it that American Indian groups protested to Fox, threatened boycotts, etc. Apparently they didn’t like the Indians being seen as violent, dirty brutes, so they forced their beliefs on network execs using threats.

I too really liked this show for it authenticity. Annie Prioux’s novel was fairly closely followed. It offered the viewers something other than reality shows and shows set in current times that are void of substance. We need more period pieces that are historically accurate. This show led to discussions with my teenage grandchildren about or country’s past. As a former history teacher I was thrilled to see this time period as a backdrop to the story line.

Drove along the St. Lawrence recently, thinking about the history of this wonderful series, anticipating more episodes. I HATE most everything on tv, I loved this show.
