Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is set to soar through the cosmos a bit longer.
Paramount+ has announced the renewal of the sci-fi series for a fourth season. The news comes while Season 3 is still under production, eyeing a release in 2025.
The executive producers, Akiva Goldsman, Henry Alonso Myers, and Alex Kurtzman, shared their excitement about the renewal. “On behalf of the cast and crew of Strange New Worlds, we’re over the moon to continue our journey,” they said. “We’re eager for you to join us and the Enterprise crew for more adventures.”
In addition, the streamer revealed that Star Trek: Lower Decks will end with its fifth season. This animated series’ conclusion was previously announced.
Strange New Worlds takes place before Kirk commands the U.S.S. Enterprise. It follows Captain Christopher Pike, Number One Una Chin-Riley, and Science Officer Spock as they explore the galaxy.
The crew also includes Nurse Christine Chapel, La’an Noonien-Singh, Cadet Nyota Uhura, Dr. M’Benga, and Lt. Erica Ortegas. Season 2 saw Paul Wesley as James T. Kirk and introduced Martin Quinn as Scotty.
Variety was the first to break the news of the renewal and the conclusion of Lower Decks.
