Hallie Jackson Replaces Kate Snow for NBC Nightly News Sunday

One month flew by since Kate Snow waved goodbye to the Sunday edition of NBC Nightly News. And just like that, the network’s found her replacement.

It was Variety, our sister pub, that spilled the beans first. They announced Hallie Jackson, NBC News’ senior Washington correspondent, as the new face at the anchor desk starting April 7th.

“Hallie is an exceptional journalist and an extraordinary broadcaster,” Janelle Rodriguez, NBC News’ executive vice president of programming, gushed. She believes Hallie’s just the right fit for their flagship Sunday newscast.

Jackson’s not new to the NBC family. She joined back in 2014, covering Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign. Despite her new role, she’ll keep hosting her two-hour streaming show, Hallie Jackson Now, on NBC News Now.

Snow’s departure was for a good cause. She left NBC Nightly News to pour her energy into her weekday streaming show, NBC News Daily.

“Our audience on NBC News Daily is growing fast,” Snow shared in mid-February. She decided to focus her attention on the show from Monday through Friday.

Since joining NBC News in 2010, Snow’s work has been nothing short of remarkable. She’s bagged five Emmys over her tenure. Her first Emmy spotlighted her work in the 2016 Dateline episode “The Cosby Accusers Speak.” It was a groundbreaking interview with 27 of Bill Cosby’s accusers.

Her second Emmy followed in 2018. It was for another Dateline episode where she sat down with Andrea Constand. Constand had previously remained silent about her accusations against Cosby, which led to his conviction. In total, Snow has been in the running for seven Emmy Awards.
