Foundation Season 3 Casts Pilou Asbæk as The Mule

Foundation’s saga is expanding. And it’s getting more intriguing by the minute.

“Game of Thrones” veteran Pilou Asbæk is stepping into the sci-fi realm. He’s taking on the role of Warlord, also known as The Mule, in the series’ third season. This role was previously filled by Mikael Persbrandt in a brief Season 2 appearance.

Asbæk’s not the only new face. Cherry Jones joins as Foundation Ambassador Quent, with Synnøve Karlsen and Cody Fern as Bayta and Toran Mallow. These characters, a newlywed couple from the books, embark on a quest to find the Second Foundation. Their goal? To halt The Mule’s advance. Brandon P. Bell rounds out the cast as Han Pritcher, a steadfast servant of The Mule.

Meanwhile, Tómas Lemarquis will portray Magnifico Giganticus, a fugitive and former court jester to The Mule. Yootha Wong-Loi-Sing steps into the role of Song, and Leo Bill will play Terminus’ ineffectual Mayor Indbur.

The Mule, a formidable Mentalic, seeks galaxy-wide domination. His destructive power was showcased in Season 2, where he nearly ended Gaal’s life. A shocking twist saw Salvor targeted for assassination by a child under Tellem’s control. The Mule’s threat extends far into the future, promising to end Gaal’s life.

David S. Goyer, the series co-creator, shared insights into The Mule’s character. According to him, The Mule’s entry into Season 3 will turn the story on its head. He teased an even crazier season ahead, surpassing the already wild finale of Season 2.

The casting news was first broken by Deadline. They’ve always got the scoop.
