Billy Bob Thornton dives into the perilous world of oil extraction in the new Paramount+ drama Landman.
Created by Taylor Sheridan, Landman features Thornton as Tommy Norris, a crisis manager for an oil company in West Texas. Jon Hamm portrays Monty Miller, a powerful figure in the oil industry and Tommy’s longtime friend, while Demi Moore plays Monty’s wife, Cami.
The trailer, which dropped on Thursday, shows Tommy explaining the risky nature of the oil business. “We don’t do it ’cause we like it,” he says. “We do it ’cause we run out of options.” The trailer can be watched above.
Joining the cast are Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, Kayla Wallace, Jacob Lofland, James Jordan, Mark Collie, and Paulina Chávez. Andy Garcia and Michael Peña will make guest appearances.
Landman is inspired by the podcast Boomtown and tells a modern story of fortune-seekers in the oil industry. It explores how roughnecks and billionaires are reshaping our climate, economy, and geopolitics.
Fans sometimes wonder how real these stories are.
The show kicks off with two episodes on November 17 on Paramount+, with new episodes released weekly after that. Watch the latest trailer above and check out first-look photos below. Will you be tuning in to watch Landman?
