EARLIER IN THE SERIES THOMAS WAS SECRETED AWAY TO AMERICA (OR SOMEWHERE IN THE WEST INDIES) BY HIS FATHER (WHO FLINT LATER MURDERED). THIS PLACE WHERE THOMAS WAS EX-COMMUNICATED WAS HINTED AT IN SEASON4 BY JOHN SILVER WHO LEARNED ABOUT A PLANTATION OR FARM IN THE AMERICAS (OR AMERICA, I CAN’T RECALL EXACTLY) WHERE WEALTHY BRITISH FAMILIES SENT FAMILY MEMBERS TO HIDE THEM FROM THE LAW AND FROM CONDEMNATION BY BRITISH SOCIETY. IN SEASON4 AFTER SILVER LEARNED OF THIS PLACE HE POSED A QUESTION TO FLINT AND ASKED HIM HOW HE WOULD CHOOSE BETWEEN SOMEONE HE LOVED AND HIS IDEALS.
