Yellowjackets Renewed for Season 4

Showtime has renewed Yellowjackets for a fourth season ahead of its Season 3 premiere, the network announced Thursday.

The psychological drama series continues to be a standout performer for the premium cable network, which made the early renewal decision amid production of the show’s third season.

“The creative team behind Yellowjackets has delivered a series that has captivated critics and audiences alike,” said Gary Levine, President of Entertainment at Showtime. “We’re thrilled to continue this journey with them and our partners at Entertainment One.”

Yellowjackets follows a high school girls’ soccer team whose plane crashes in the remote Canadian wilderness in 1996, forcing the survivors into a harrowing fight for survival that includes possible cannibalism. The series simultaneously tracks their adult lives in the present day as they deal with the traumatic aftermath.

The ensemble cast features Melanie Lynskey (The Last of Us), Christina Ricci (Wednesday), Juliette Lewis (Natural Born Killers), and Tawny Cypress (Unforgettable) as the adult versions of the survivors, with Sophie Nélisse, Sammi Hanratty, Sophie Thatcher, and Jasmin Savoy Brown portraying their teenage counterparts.

Season 2 of Yellowjackets concluded in May 2023, with the the third season currently in production. Showtime has not yet announced a premiere date for Season 3.

Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, the series has received critical acclaim since its 2021 debut, earning seven Emmy nominations including Outstanding Drama Series for its first season.

The renewal demonstrates Showtime‘s continued confidence in the series as the network undergoes integration with Paramount+ streaming services.
