Sid Eudy, known to wrestling fans as Sid Vicious, has passed away at 63.
His son Gunnar announced on Facebook that Eudy had fought cancer for several years and sadly lost the battle. Gunnar shared, “He was a man of strength, kindness, and love, and his presence will be greatly missed. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we grieve this loss.”
The WWE also expressed their condolences on social media: “WWE is saddened to learn that Sid Eudy has passed away. WWE extends its condolences to Eudy’s family, friends and fans.”
Sid first gained fame in the late ’80s with the NWA, joining Ric Flair’s Four Horsemen. By 1991, he had moved to WWE (then WWF), where he turned heel and faced Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania VII. After brief periods with WCW and USWA, he returned to WWE in 1995 as Sycho Sid, eventually winning the WWE Championship twice by defeating Shawn Michaels.
In 1999, Sid went back to WCW but suffered a severe leg injury in a pay-per-view event two years later. This injury greatly affected his career, leading him to consider retirement. Despite this setback, he occasionally wrestled until his final match in 2017. He even appeared on Big Brother in 2012 when his son Frank was a contestant.
Fans will always remember him for his contributions to wrestling.
Life can be unpredictable sometimes.
