– Goldberg expected to return to the show after a negative COVID test

Whoopi Goldberg was absent for the Season 24 premiere of The View, which aired on September 7th, due to a close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. As a precautionary measure, Goldberg decided to self-isolate and get tested for the virus.

During the premiere episode, co-host Sara Haines informed viewers of Goldberg’s situation, stating “Whoopi had some close contact with a recent COVID-positive case, so she is staying home and taking a test.” She further added that they are waiting for Goldberg’s test results but she is feeling fine. Haines, along with the other co-hosts, Ana Navarro, Joy Behar, and Sonny Hostin, have taken necessary precautions and continue to get tested regularly.

Behar noted that they are not taking any chances with the virus, saying, “We’re sticking to the rules. We are doing what they say we should do.” Navarro also emphasized the importance of testing, as two of her family members have died from the disease. The hosts expressed how grateful they are for access to testing and encouraged viewers to do the same.

Goldberg is expected to return to the show after her COVID test results come back negative.
