It’s been almost three years since we last saw a new episode of When Hope Calls.
The show, which started on Hallmark in 2019 and later moved to Great American Family for some Christmas episodes in 2021, has been renewed for a second season. However, there will be some changes in the cast, with three new actors joining the show.
When Hope Calls originally told the story of sisters Lillian and Grace in the town of Brookfield around 1916. The series focused on the town’s orphanage and its residents who faced big challenges while building a hopeful community. Lillian had a romantic storyline with Mountie Gabriel.
At the end of Season 1, Grace left for London and did not return when the show came back on Great American Family in 2021. Lillian explained that Grace had settled in the UK, and Chuck, her love interest from Season 1, also left town.
GAF says that while Season 2 will remember Lillian and Gabriel’s romance, it will also introduce new characters important to the orphanage, farms, ranches, and Brookfield. These new characters include Nora (played by Cindy Busby), Michael (played by Christopher Russell), and Wyatt (played by Nick Bateman). Returning cast members include Morgan Kohan as Lillian, Ryan-James Hatanaka as Gabriel, Wendy Crewson as Tess, and Hanneke Talbot as Maggie.
Marshall Williams and Neil Crone, who appeared in Season 1 as Sam and Ronnie, are not listed for Season 2. Lori Loughlin also isn’t mentioned; she played Abigail Stanton in the Christmas episodes.
Fans are eager to see what’s next for this heartwarming series.
The second season will have eight episodes. Filming starts later this month, aiming for a January 2025 release. We will keep you updated once there’s an official premiere date and trailer available.
