Hallmark Channel has renewed the When Calls the Heart spinoff series When Hope Calls for a third season, the network announced Tuesday.
The period drama, which follows orphaned sisters Lillian (Morgan Kohan) and Grace (Jocelyn Hudon) as they navigate life in the early 1900s frontier town of Brookfield, will return with new episodes in early 2024.
This renewal comes after the series made an unexpected move from Hallmark’s streaming service to GAC Family for its second season, which premiered in December 2021.
“We’re thrilled to bring When Hope Calls back to its original home,” said Lisa Hamilton Daly, Executive Vice President of Programming at Hallmark Media. “The show’s heartfelt storytelling and beloved characters have resonated deeply with our audience.”
The upcoming third season will feature the return of Kohan as Lillian Walsh, though casting for other roles remains unconfirmed.
When Hope Calls first debuted in 2019 as Hallmark’s first-ever streaming original on the now-defunct Hallmark Movies Now service. The series was created as a spinoff of the network’s flagship drama When Calls the Heart, which is currently in its tenth season.
Season 2 notably featured a guest appearance by Lori Loughlin, marking her return to acting following her involvement in the college admissions scandal. Loughlin reprised her role as Abigail Stanton from the parent series.
Production on the new season is set to begin in the fall, with executive producers Brad Krevoy, Brian Bird, and Michael Landon Jr. returning to helm the project.
Hallmark has yet to announce the the exact premiere date or episode count for the upcoming season.
