Netflix has confirmed that Tyler Perry’s drama series Beauty in Black will conclude with its upcoming third season. The streaming giant’s announcement comes as production prepares to begin on the show’s final episodes.
The series, which premiered in 2021, follows the journey of a young Black woman navigating the competitive beauty industry while confronting personal and professional challenges.
Perry, who serves as creator, writer, and executive producer, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to complete the story arc he had envisioned.
“We always planned for Beauty in Black to be a three-season journey,” Perry said in a statement. “I’m thankful to Netflix for supporting this vision from day one.”
The ensemble cast includes Gabrielle Union (Bring It On, L.A.’s Finest), who plays industry veteran Simone Jackson, alongside newcomer Keke Palmer (Nope, Hustlers) as ambitious protagonist Maya Wilson.
Netflix has not yet announced a premiere date for the final season, though industry sources expect it to debut in late 2023.
The series has garnered critical acclaim for its authentic portrayal of Black entrepreneurship and complex female characters in the beauty space.
Season 2, which premiered last September, averaged strong viewership numbers, consistently appearing in the platform’s Top 10 weekly rankings.
Perry’s overall development deal with Netflix remains active, with several other projects currently in various stages of production.
