– The Walking Dead spinoff series about Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier to be released in 2023
– Showrunner Angela Kang says Norman Reedus (Daryl) and Melissa McBride (Carol) were involved in shaping their characters’ futures
– The spinoff will feel “very different” from the original series
A spinoff series based on The Walking Dead is set to be released in 2023. The series, which revolves around the characters of Daryl Dixon (played by Norman Reedus) and Carol Peletier (played by Melissa McBride), promises a different “vibe” from the original series. This was revealed by the showrunner of The Walking Dead, Angela Kang, who also mentioned the involvement of both Reedus and McBride in developing their characters’ stories for the spinoff.
Kang states that Reedus and McBride “saw the potential for stories about [Daryl and Carol], particularly after seeing the call for it from the fans”. Therefore, they discussed at length with Kang and the writers about various story possibilities and where their characters would go. Kang further emphasizes that Reedus and McBride “have real insights into these characters” and have been with the show since the beginning.
In addition to its focus on Daryl and Carol, the spinoff will also introduce new settings and groups of characters. It will feature a mix of old and new elements, offering “different terrain, figuratively and literally, to walk on and ride on.” Kang promises that it will be a “very different Walking Dead” compared to the original series.
While fans are eager to see Daryl and Carol’s stories continue in the spinoff, the final 11th season of The Walking Dead is currently being aired, allowing viewers to enjoy the conclusion of the original series before diving into the spinoff in 2023.
