The Legend of Vox Machina Final Season Confirmed as Mighty Nein Spinoff Sets Prime Video Premiere

Prime Video has renewed The Legend of Vox Machina for a fourth and final season, the streamer announced Thursday. The animated fantasy series, based on Critical Role’s first Dungeons & Dragons campaign, will conclude its story with the upcoming installment.

The renewal comes ahead of the show’s third season, which premieres on the streaming platform October 3.

In addition to the renewal news, Prime Video revealed that The Mighty Nein — the anticipated spinoff series based on Critical Role’s second campaign — will debut in December 2025.

The Legend of Vox Machina follows a band of misfit adventurers on their quest to save the realm of Exandria from dark magical forces. The series features the voice talents of Critical Role’s original cast members, including Laura Bailey, Taliesin Jaffe, Ashley Johnson, Liam O’Brien, Matthew Mercer, Marisha Ray, Sam Riegel, and Travis Willingham.

The show began as a record-breaking Kickstarter campaign in 2019, raising over $11 million before Prime Video picked up the series for additional episodes.

The Mighty Nein will continue expanding the animated Critical Role universe, following a different group of adventurers in the same world of Exandria. The original cast will return to voice new characters for this spinoff.

Critical Role has grown from a livestreamed tabletop role-playing game into a multimedia franchise with books, comics, and now multiple animated series. The company continues to produce its weekly livestreamed gameplay sessions alongside these expanding entertainment properties.
