Netflix has officially renewed The Hunting Wives for a second season, the streaming giant announced Tuesday.
The psychological thriller series, based on May Cobb’s bestselling novel of the same name, received the greenlight for a sophomore run following its successful debut earlier this year.
The Hunting Wives stars Jessica Alba (Fantastic Four) as Sophie O’Neill, a woman who becomes entangled with a group of elite Texas socialites with dangerous hobbies. The ensemble cast includes Hilary Swank, Michelle Pfeiffer, and James Marsden (Westworld).
Executive producer Anna Kendrick expressed excitement about the renewal in a statement to press.
“We’re thrilled to continue exploring the dark underbelly of small-town Texas and the complicated relationships that drive these characters,” Kendrick said.
Season one concluded with a shocking finale that left several character arcs unresolved — a deliberate choice according to showrunner David Fincher.
[Spoiler Alert] The first season ended with the revelation that Sophie’s involvement with the hunting club was orchestrated by an unseen antagonist, setting up significant plot developments for the upcoming season.
Production on season two is expected to begin in early 2024, with the new episodes likely premiering in late 2024 or early 2025.
Netflix has not yet confirmed which cast members will return for the second season.
