The Acolyte Star Wars Series Release Date on Disney Plus

Not even a full day had passed since Disney+ announced a Tuesday, June 4 release date. Suddenly, their next live-action Star Wars series, The Acolyte, dropped a trailer that could only be described as haunting.

The preview? Oh, it’s a journey. It introduces us to characters like Mae, Master Sol, and Master Indara. These roles are brought to life by Amandla Stenberg (The Eddy), Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game), and Carrie-Anne Moss (Marvel’s Jessica Jones), respectively.

And there’s more. We get a sneak peek of a Wookiee Jedi named Kelnacca. Portrayed by Joonas Suotamo from Solo: A Star Wars Story, this character adds an intriguing layer to the ensemble. Plus, the series is set to kick off with not one, but two episodes. Talk about a double treat!

Switching gears a bit, let’s talk about the brains behind The Acolyte. Created by Leslye Headland, known for Russian Doll, this series is pegged as a “mystery thriller.” It promises to plunge viewers into a galaxy filled with shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers. All of this unfolds in the final days of the High Republic era.

The plot thickens as a former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master. Together, they dive into investigating a series of crimes. However, they soon realize the forces they’re up against are far more sinister than anticipated.

Headland shared some insights, saying, “If Star Wars is about the underdog versus the institution, in The Acolyte, the Jedi are the institution.” She poses an interesting question: “What went wrong?” It’s a fresh take, viewing the Jedi as the establishment and flipping the script to make the bad guys the underdogs.

The cast list doesn’t stop with the names mentioned earlier. It also includes Rebecca Henderson as Mirialan Jedi Vernestra Rwoh and Dafne Keen as the half-Theelin/half-human Jedi Jecki. Jodie Turner-Smith, Manny Jacinto, Charlie Barnett, and Dean-Charles Chapman also join the ensemble, each bringing their unique talents to the table.

So, are you planning to watch Star Wars: The Acolyte when it drops? Your thoughts and anticipations are welcome below. Let’s chat about what’s gearing up to be an epic addition to the Star Wars universe.
