A brand-new daytime soap opera has been announced, marking the first in 25 years.
CBS revealed on Thursday that Tamara Tunie will lead the cast of Beyond the Gates. Joining her are fellow soap stars Daphnee Duplaix and Karla Mosley.
Set in a wealthy Maryland suburb near Washington, D.C., Beyond the Gates showcases one of the richest African American counties in America. The story revolves around the Dupree family, who are seen as Black royalty in their gated community. But behind their perfect lawns and grand homes lie secrets and scandals waiting to be discovered. And the people outside these gates are watching closely.
The show’s characters live, love, work, and play here. Some have made it big, while others are still trying to figure life out — with varying degrees of success.
Michele Val Jean, known for her work on B&B and General Hospital, is the creator and showrunner of Beyond the Gates. The series is a collaboration between CBS Studios and the NAACP.
Other executive producers include Robert Guza Jr., Julie Carruthers, Sheila Ducksworth, Derrick Johnson, Leon Russell, Kimberly Doebereiner, and Anna Saalfeld.
Beyond the Gates will debut in early 2025 after CBS’ The Talk wraps up its 15th season in December. Fans can stay tuned for the exact premiere date.

Tamara Tunie will play Anita Dupree, the family matriarch. Once a famous singer, Anita worked hard for her success and raised two daughters with her retired senator husband. Despite her polished exterior, she carries a fierce determination from her humble Chicago beginnings.
Daphnee Duplaix portrays Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson, one of Anita’s daughters. Nicole is a high-achieving philanthropist and psychiatrist known for her warmth and compassion. She seems to have it all — a successful career and a happy marriage to a surgeon — but things might not be as perfect as they appear.
Karla Mosley takes on the role of Dani Dupree, Nicole’s sister. Dani was once a model but gave up her career for love. Known as the family’s wild child, she is free-spirited and headstrong, having left school to pursue modeling and always living life on her own terms.
