Sweet Magnolias Renewed for Season 5

Netflix has renewed Sweet Magnolias for a fifth season, the streaming service announced Tuesday. The popular drama series will continue its run following the recent release of its fourth season.

The renewal comes as Sweet Magnolias maintains a strong viewership position on the platform. Based on Sherryl Woods’ novel series of the same name, the show follows three lifelong friends navigating life’s complexities in the charming small town of Serenity, South Carolina.

JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Brooke Elliott, and Heather Headley lead the ensemble cast as childhood friends Maddie Townsend, Dana Sue Sullivan, and Helen Decatur, respectively.

Season 4, which premiered earlier this year, continued to explore the personal and professional challenges facing the trio as they supported each other through relationship struggles, family dynamics, and community issues.

Sheryl J. Anderson serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Dan Paulson. Norman Buckley also executive produces and directs multiple episodes.

“We’re thrilled to continue the journey with these characters our audience has grown to love,” Anderson said in a statement. “The support from viewers has been overwhelming, and we can’t wait to bring more stories from Serenity to life.”

Netflix has not yet announced a production timeline or target release date for the fifth season.

The series has consistently resonated with viewers since its debut in 2020, offering a blend of Southern charm, female friendship, and relatable personal challenges that has has maintained its appeal across multiple seasons.
