Apple TV+ has greenlit a seventh season of Slow Horses well ahead of its fifth season premiere, the streamer announced Tuesday.
The critically acclaimed spy drama, based on Mick Herron’s Slough House novels, stars Gary Oldman as the slovenly but brilliant Jackson Lamb who leads a department of MI5 rejects.
This early renewal comes as production on the show’s fifth season has only recently begun in the UK.
Slow Horses has become one of Apple TV+‘s standout original series since its 2022 debut. The show’s fourth season premiered in September with its finale airing earlier this month.
The seventh season will adapt Herron’s novel “Bad Actors,” following the series pattern of adapting each book in sequence. Season 5 will be based on “London Rules” while the upcoming sixth season will tackle “Joe Country.”
Alongside Oldman, the ensemble cast includes Kristin Scott Thomas, Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, and Jonathan Pryce.
The series is produced by See-Saw Films and adapted for television by Will Smith, who serves as executive producer alongside Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Jane Robertson, Graham Yost, and Douglas Urbanski.
Apple TV+ has not yet announced premiere dates for the fifth or sixth seasons.
