Ryan Reynolds on Rob McElhenney’s Deadpool Wolverine Cameo

Welcome to… a twisty tale?

Ryan Reynolds recently revealed some interesting tidbits about the Deadpool & Wolverine movie, specifically mentioning his buddy Rob McElhenney.

Initially, Rob had a cameo in the film.

“So, @robmcelhenney kindly did a cameo in D&W,” Ryan wrote on Friday, showing pictures of Rob both with and without his TVA agent mask.

But things didn’t go as planned. “The sequence wasn’t working and Rob is why it stayed in the cut for so long,” Ryan explained. He added, “Even under a TVA mask, you can feel him smoldering with a raw, untapped reservoir of intensity.”

“Don’t get me started on Wrexham,” Ryan joked about their football team. “I wouldn’t know a love like that if it weren’t for Rob.”

Ryan continued, saying it’s great to have friends close by. “Even though I’m mortified he flew to London for me” — only to be cut out — “I’m grateful my friend [was] on that set. Rob shows up for people. It’s why he’s the absolute best.”

Fans love seeing their friendships play out like this.

Ryan ended by humorously describing how Rob’s character met his end: “begged for his life before Alioth snatched his unsuspecting body into the air, swallowing him whole, eventually digesting and converting him into Alioth-poo. RIP TVA Soldier. ”

Rob took to Twitter on the movie’s release day to share his experience: “I traveled 6 thousand miles to shoot my cameo,” he joked, adding that the theater he was in mistakenly cut it out. “Since I KNOW Ryan wouldn’t do me like that, I look forward to catching the movie and my cameo again today!”

Their friendship is truly something special!
