Richard Gadd, fresh off his Emmy wins, just signed a new deal with Netflix.
This multi-year agreement was shared by Ted Sarandos at the RTS London Convention, and Gadd will be making new scripted shows for Netflix.
“I’m beyond thrilled to be continuing my creative journey with Netflix,” Gadd said in a statement (via Tudum). “They took a chance on me when I wasn’t proven in the television space; for that I will always be grateful. I look forward to the years ahead with Netflix, ideas with Ted, Bela [Bajaria], Anne [Mensah], Peter [Friedlander], and all the amazing staff who work at the company.”
Just two days before this announcement, Gadd won three Emmys for his show Baby Reindeer. The show picked up awards for Outstanding Limited Series, Outstanding Writing, and Outstanding Lead Actor. Plus, it got three more Emmys for Supporting Actress (Jessica Gunning), Picture Editing, and Casting.
We are really excited about this news!
Interestingly enough, Gadd’s next project Lions is going to HBO and BBC. This series spans six episodes and follows two men with a tangled past. When Ruben crashes Niall’s wedding, it sets off a chain of events that takes us back through decades of their lives. The story explores their relationship from the 1980s to now, filled with ups and downs. It aims to answer the tough question: What does it mean to be a man?
