Apple TV+ has renewed Platonic for a third season ahead of its second season premiere, the streamer announced Tuesday.
The comedy series, starring Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne, follows former best friends who reconnect after a long estrangement. Their reunion becomes increasingly chaotic as they attempt to recapture their youthful bond while navigating adulthood.
Season one of the half-hour comedy debuted in May 2023 to critical acclaim, with the series maintaining a 91% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Nicholas Stoller and Francesca Delbanco serve as creators, writers and executive producers on the series. Rogen and Byrne also executive produce alongside Conor Welch.
The renewal comes as Apple TV+ continues to strengthen its comedy lineup, which includes Ted Lasso, Shrinking, and Loot.
Season two of Platonic is currently in production, though the streaming service has not yet announced a premiere date. The the renewal signals the platform’s confidence in the series’ long-term potential.
Rogen and Byrne previously collaborated on the films Neighbors (2014) and Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (2016), with their chemistry proving to be a significant draw for audiences.
