Outlander Blood of My Blood Renewed for Season 2 Ahead of Premiere

Starz has renewed Outlander: Blood of My Blood for a second season ahead of the prequel’s series premiere, the network announced Tuesday.

The upcoming series, which explores the love stories of Jamie Fraser’s parents and Claire’s parents, received the early renewal as production continues on its first season in Scotland.

“We are thrilled to continue the epic love story and let viewers experience more of this wonderful world and its characters,” said Kathryn Busby, President of Original Programming at Starz.

Blood of My Blood serves as a prequel to the network’s long-running hit series Outlander, which is currently filming its eighth and final season. The prequel will focus on Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser in the Scottish Highlands and Henry Beauchamp and Julia Moriston in World War I England.

Matthew B. Roberts, showrunner of the original series, will executive produce the prequel alongside Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, and series author Diana Gabaldon.

The renewal comes as a strong vote of confidence for the project, which has yet to announce an official premiere date.
