Hulu has picked up Only Murders in the Building for a sixth season, with plans to take the hit comedy-mystery series to London.
The renewal announcement comes ahead of the show’s fifth season, which is currently in development. The series, starring Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez as an unlikely trio of amateur sleuths, has become one of the streaming platform’s most successful original productions.
According to sources familiar with the production, the sixth season will partially take place in London, marking the first time the series will venture outside its New York City setting at the Arconia apartment building.
“We’re thrilled to continue this journey with these incredible characters,” said Craig Erwich, President of Disney Television Group. “The creative team has consistently delivered compelling mysteries and memorable moments that resonate with audiences worldwide.”
Only Murders in the Building has garnered both critical acclaim and commercial success since its 2021 debut. The series has received multiple Emmy nominations, with both Martin and Short earning recognition for their performances.
The show’s fourth season is currently in production and expected to premiere later this year. It introduces several high-profile guest stars, including Eugene Levy (Schitt’s Creek), Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives), and Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids).
Co-created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman, the series follows three residents of a New York City apartment building who bond over their shared love of true crime podcasts and begin investigating murders connected to their residence.
Hulu has not announced a premiere date for the sixth season, though production is expected to begin after the completion of season five.
