On Instagram, Bush and Burton shared their excitement, asking, “What if you really can go back home?” They’re all in for teaming up with creative minds, showcasing their friends’ talents, and reclaiming their legacy. They said, “Sign us up.”
They also reminded us that there’s only one Tree Hill. And the fans? Well, they’ve shown that it’s more than just a place; it’s where “everything’s better and everything’s safe.”
Their comments about “owning our history” could be hinting at past issues with the original series creator Mark Schwahn. Schwahn faced several sexual harassment allegations and was fired from The Royals. He won’t be involved in this Netflix sequel. Instead, Becky Hartman Edwards will be writing the new series.
Bush and Burton will step back into their roles as Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer. This sequel will jump 20 years into the future, showing them as moms to teenagers. (By the way, Chad Michael Murray won’t be returning as Lucas Scott.)
