Obi Ndefo, Dawson’s Creek Star, Dies at 51

Obi Ndefo, famous for his role in Dawson’s Creek, has passed away at 51.

His sister shared the sad news on Facebook Saturday night, five years after he lost both legs in a hit-and-run. No cause of death was given. TVLine has tried to get more details from his family.

From 1998 to 2002, Ndefo played Bodie Wells, Bess Potter’s boyfriend, in Dawson’s Creek. He also appeared as Rak’nor in Stargate SG-1 between 2000 and 2005. His TV appearances included The West Wing, Half & Half, NYPD Blue, Crossing Jordan, Star Trek: Voyager, and 3rd Rock From the Sun. His last role was in a 2021 episode of NCIS: Los Angeles.

On August 17, 2019, Ndefo was involved in a hit-and-run accident which led to the amputation of both his legs. In an interview with the LA Times, he shared his positive perspective: “This is just so horrendous what happened to me, why would I compound this by feeling bad about it?”

We often find strength in how others face their challenges.
