North of North Renewed for Season 2 at Netflix

Netflix has renewed North of North for a second season, the streaming giant announced Tuesday.

The wilderness survival drama will return for another installment following its successful debut earlier this year.

North of North stars James Harrison as Liam Mackenzie, a former park ranger who relocates to a remote Alaskan outpost following personal tragedy. The series explores themes of isolation, redemption, and human resilience against the backdrop of the unforgiving Arctic wilderness.

Executive producer Mara Simmons expressed enthusiasm about the renewal in a statement.

“We’re thrilled to continue this journey into the wild frontier,” Simmons said. “Season two will push our characters even further beyond their limits as they face new challenges and confront the the harsh realities of survival.”

The first season, which premiered in April, garnered critical acclaim for its stunning cinematography and Harrison’s nuanced performance. Sarah Chen (previously seen in The Outer Edge) co-stars as wildlife biologist Dr. Emily Frost.

Production on the eight-episode second season is scheduled to begin in British Columbia this fall, with a targeted premiere date in late 2024.

Series creator Thomas Winters will return as showrunner alongside the original writing team. Netflix has not yet revealed plot details for the upcoming season.

The complete first season of North of North is currently available to stream.
