– “Mayor of Kingstown” gets a third season
– Early renewal by Paramount+ before Season 2 airs
– No release date announced as of yet
Paramount+ has decided to renew the crime drama “Mayor of Kingstown” for a third season. This move comes ahead of the show’s second season premiere, demonstrating the streaming service’s commitment to the series. The announcement was made by Nicole Clemens, President of Paramount+ Original Scripted Series during the Television Critics Association winter press tour.
Created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, “Mayor of Kingstown” follows the McLusky family, who act as power brokers in the small Michigan town of Kingstown. The family’s business is unique, as it deals with the only booming industry in the area: the prison system. The story focuses on addressing themes such as systemic racism, corruption, and the quest for power.
The show features Jeremy Renner, known for his role as Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Dianne Wiest, who plays the family matriarch. Clemens expressed her excitement for continuing the show, stating, “We’re thrilled with the tremendous creative and commercial success Mayor of Kingstown has achieved thus far and eager to continue exploring the evocative and impactful stories at the heart of the series.”
No release date for the third season has been announced. However, this early renewal indicates a strong confidence in the show and its potential to keep viewers engaged.
