A new Disney+ series centered around the iconic Star Wars character Lando Calrissian is in the works, with Justin Simien, the creator of “Dear White People,” involved in the project. The series, titled “Lando,” is set to explore the life and adventures of the smooth-talking smuggler, previously portrayed by Billy Dee Williams and Donald Glover.
Though details regarding the cast and potential return of Glover are not yet available, the inclusion of Simien as the creator and showrunner has been confirmed. Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, announced the news during Disney’s Investor Day event on December 10th. This joins an ever-growing list of Star Wars projects for Disney+, including the upcoming “Obi-Wan Kenobi” series starring Ewan McGregor and “Ahsoka,” featuring Rosario Dawson as the popular character Ahsoka Tano.
