Paramount+ has renewed Landman for a third season, extending the Taylor Sheridan drama series before its second season has even premiered.
The renewal comes as the Billy Bob Thornton-led series continues production on its sophomore season, which is currently filming in Fort Worth, Texas.
Landman follows the high-stakes world of oil rigging in West Texas, with Thornton starring as crisis management fixer Tommy Norris. The series debuted in November 2023 to strong viewership, quickly becoming one of Paramount+‘s most-watched original dramas.
“The audience response to Landman has been phenomenal,” said Jeff Grossman, Executive Vice President of Programming at Paramount+. “Taylor Sheridan has once again created a world that resonates deeply with viewers, and we’re confident the story has tremendous room to grow.”
The series co-stars Ali Larter (Heroes), Demi Moore (G.I. Jane), and Jon Hamm (Mad Men), who joined as a recurring guest in the latter half of season one.
Based on the podcast “Boomtown,” Landman is executive produced by Sheridan alongside David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, and Bob Yari. The show represents Sheridan’s sixth series for Paramount, following successes like Yellowstone and Mayor of Kingstown.
Season two is expected to premiere in early 2024, though an exact date has not yet been announced.
