LA Fire and Rescue Cancelled: NBC Drops Series After Season 2

It’s shaping up to be a game-packed summer over at NBC. Yet, their bustling Olympics schedule is squeezing out room for a couple of their reality series. Sadly, fans of “LA Fire and Rescue” and “Hot Wheels: Ultimate Challenge” will find themselves at a loss. Both shows have been axed, a little birdie (okay, it was Deadline) chirped out on Monday.

“LA Fire and Rescue” wasn’t just any show. It offered a rare peek behind the curtains of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Launched in May last year, it was more than just a series. According to its official spiel, it was about real calls, real drama, and the faces of dedicated firefighters. These heroes, their stories, and the unpredictable dangers they braved were at the heart of it all.

Then there’s “Hot Wheels: Ultimate Challenge.” Imagine this: superfans duking it out to transform a regular car into a Hot Wheels masterpiece. They worked with “The Car Pool,” a group of automotive wizards, in high-tech garages. The prize? $25,000 and a shot at the finale. There, the ultimate winner could snag an additional $50,000 and the dream of seeing their design as an official Hot Wheels die-cast car.

Hosting the “Hot Wheels” showdown was Rutledge Wood, known from “Top Gear US” and “Floor Is Lava.” Judging alongside him were Ford’s Dalal Elsheikh and Hoonigan’s Hertrech “Hert” Eugene Jr. The series kicked off on June 21, 2023.

So, are you bummed about these cancellations, or are you keen to clear some DVR space for the Olympics? Drop your thoughts in the comments. Let’s chat about it.
