Hulu is reportedly bringing back more episodes of King of the Hill, expanding its revival of the beloved animated series.
The platform is moving forward with additional installments beyond its initial order, according to industry sources familiar with the project. This decision comes as animation work continues on the previously announced revival.
King of the Hill, created by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, originally ran for 13 seasons on Fox from 1997 to 2010. The series centered on propane salesman Hank Hill and his family in the fictional town of Arlen, Texas.
The revival was first announced in January 2023, with Judge and Daniels returning alongside executive producer Saladin Patterson.
Original voice cast members set to return include Mike Judge (Hank Hill), Kathy Najimy (Peggy Hill), Stephen Root (Bill Dauterive), Pamela Adlon (Bobby Hill), Johnny Hardwick (Dale Gribble), and Lauren Tom (Minh Souphanousinphone).
The new episodes are expected to take place in present day, with the characters aging in real time since the series finale aired in 2010.
Hulu has yet to announce an official premiere date for the revival, which joins the platform’s growing slate of adult animation including Solar Opposites and Hit-Monkey.
This expansion represents another significant investment in the animation space for Disney, which controls Hulu and has been leveraging familiar IP across its streaming platforms.
