– Kaitlyn Dever was almost cast as Loretta McCready in ‘Justified’
– Dever went on to become successful in her own right, starring in ‘Booksmart’ and ‘Unbelievable’
– ‘City Primeval: High Noon in Detroit’ is a potential prequel series to the show
Kaitlyn Dever, known best for her work in “Booksmart” and “Unbelievable,” was nearly cast in the role of Loretta McCready on the acclaimed TV series “Justified.” If she had landed the part, it might have quite possibly changed the fate of her career that has since lead her to flourishing as an actress. Dever was in the early stages of her career and was considered for the second season of “Justified.”
Timothy Olyphant, the show’s star, revealed in a recent interview with The Empire Film Podcast that Dever was in the running for the role but that it had ultimately gone to another actress. Reflecting on this circumstance, Olyphant shared, “When we were casting that role, damn, Kaitlyn Dever was so close to playing that part.”
Incidentally, Dever has indeed continued to find success in her acting career. In 2019, she played the lead in the critically-acclaimed indie film “Booksmart,” directed by Olivia Wilde. Following that, she received a Golden Globe nomination for her powerful performance in the Netflix limited series “Unbelievable.”
In the meantime, fans of “Justified” can look forward to the potential prequel series, tentatively titled “City Primeval: High Noon in Detroit,” adapted from the 1980 novel of the same name. Although not much is known about the project at the moment, it could provide the perfect opportunity for enthusiasts to catch a glimpse of the characters they enjoyed from the original show.
While Dever may not have been part of the “Justified” ensemble, her foray into acting has clearly been successful, and the show’s prequel series may bring even more captivating narratives to viewers.
