Jorge Ramos is leaving Univision News after nearly four decades, as reported by Variety.
In a note to his colleagues, Ramos shared, “This is not a farewell. I will continue anchoring Noticiero Univision until December, and afterwards I will share my professional plan. I am deeply grateful for these four decades at Univision and very proud to be part of a team that has established strong leadership over the years.”
Noticias Univision, the news division of TelevisaUnivision, stated that both Ramos and the company have “mutually agreed not to renew their soon-to-expire contract agreement.”
The president of the network’s news division, Daniel Coronell, said in a statement, “I want to express my respect and gratitude for Jorge Ramos and all he has done for Univision and the growing community we serve each and every day. As we look to 2025 and beyond, our talented team is well equipped to continue the tradition of journalistic excellence that has defined Noticiero Univision since the beginning.”
Ramos has been co-anchoring Noticiero Univision since 1987 and also hosted Al Punto on Sundays. Often called “The Walter Cronkite of Latin America,” he has won 10 Emmy Awards and was named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People in 2015.
Fans feel like they are saying goodbye to an era.
After decades on air, it’s hard to imagine Univision without him. But change is inevitable, right?
