Grimsburg Among 3 Shows Renewed at Fox: Which Cartoon Faces Cancellation?

Fox has renewed its animated comedy Grimsburg for a third season ahead of its second season premiere, the network announced Thursday.

The Jon Hamm-led series joins two other Fox animated staples receiving renewal orders. The Simpsons will return for a record-extending 36th season, while Family Guy has been picked up for Season 23.

“Animation continues to be a powerful cornerstone of our lineup,” said Michael Thorn, President of Scripted Programming at Fox. “These renewals reflect our commitment to delivering signature content that resonates with audiences across multiple platforms.”

Grimsburg stars Hamm (Mad Men) as Marvin Flute, a detective who returns to the titular town to solve bizarre crimes while attempting to reconnect with his ex-wife and son. The series premiered in January 2024 to solid ratings, averaging 1.9 million viewers across all platforms.

Notably absent from the renewal announcement was Bob’s Burgers, currently in its 14th season. Sources close to the production indicate the beloved animated series remains in limbo, with renewal discussions ongoing.

Davey Kraken, creator of Grimsburg, expressed his excitement about the early renewal in a statement: “We’re thrilled to continue exploring the weird and wonderful world of Grimsburg for seasons to come.”

The second season of Grimsburg is scheduled to premiere in early 2025.
