British actor Darren Kent, known for his role as “goatherd” in a memorable scene from HBO‘s hit series “Game of Thrones”, has died, according to multiple sources. Friends and fellow actors have been sharing tributes to the late actor on social media.
Kent appeared in the fourth season of “Game of Thrones”, specifically in the episode titled “Breaker of Chains”, where his character’s goats met their end at the fiery hands of the dragon Drogon. The scene was one of the most memorable and talked-about moments in the show’s history, and Kent’s character – despite his brief screen time – became synonymous with the immense power of Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons.
Aside from his time on “Game of Thrones”, Kent’s acting career also included appearances in other TV shows and movies, such as “Living With The Dead”, “Sleepy Hollow”, “Dark Heart”, and “Jack the Giant Slayer”. He also worked as a makeup artist and model before getting into acting.
In remembering the late actor, Kent’s co-star Ross O’Hennessy wrote on Twitter, “Such a sad day today. RIP my dear friend Darren Kent. We had so much fun working together on #GameofThrones. Such a lovely man who was always so kind to everyone. You will be truly missed, my friend… From your friends… Always in my heart”.
Another actor, Annette Hannah, posted on her Facebook page, “Absolutely heartbroken that my dear friend and fellow actor Darren Kent has passed away. He was one of the most beautiful, kind, talented and genuine people you could ever hope to meet… my thoughts are with his family and all his friends at this terribly sad time”.
