Friday the 13th Prequel Series Crystal Lake Revived by New Showrunner

Jason Voorhees is set to return with the new Crystal Lake series on Peacock, now led by Brad Caleb Kane.

“From the moment I watched Jason Voorhees squeeze a guy’s eyeball out of its socket (in glorious 3D!) at the tender age of 8 years old, I knew my creative path was someday destined to converge with The Man Behind The Mask,” Kane said in a statement. “Nothing defined my childhood more than growing up in the golden age of the slasher flick, and nothing’s defined the genre more than Friday The 13th. I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity to contribute a chapter to this iconic franchise, particularly with such fearless partners as Peacock and A24.”

Kane steps into the roles of creator, writer, and executive producer after Bryan Fuller exited in May. Fuller had shared that A24 decided to take a different direction.

Fans are really curious about what will happen next.

The plot remains a secret for now.

The series was ordered back in October 2022 and is described as an “expanded prequel” focusing on Jason Voorhees. The original movie came out in 1980, featuring camp counselors getting murdered, and it became a huge hit. This led to nine sequels, Freddy vs. Jason crossover, and even a reboot in 2009. There was also a TV series from 1987 to 1990 and an attempt by CW which didn’t go beyond the pilot stage.
