Katja Herbers, star of the show Evil, was blown away by Stephen King’s enthusiastic praise for the “very scary” and “joyful” — but unfortunately canceled — Paramount+ series.
Earlier this week, a clip of Stephen King surfaced where he mentioned his love for Evil, describing it as “great,” “funny,” “witty,” and “very, very sharp.”
Seeing this, Herbers took to X and exclaimed, “OKAY CAN WE DO THE PICK UP NOW?” (She’s been urging platforms like Netflix to save the show since it was canceled.)
Stephen King then went on to post more about his admiration for Evil on X, calling it “smart, thought-provoking, occasionally VERY scary,” and praising the chemistry between the main characters as “joyful.”
That’s when Herbers had her “holy s–t” moment, adding heart-eyes emojis and once again pleading, “K maybe we can do the pick up now.”
She replied to King with gratitude: “We’re honored. Thank you.”
Even Robert King, co-creator of Evil, was touched by Stephen King’s support. He posted on X saying it was “such an honor” and humorously clarified that there’s “no relation” between them.
The announcement that Evil would end with its fourth season came back in February before its May 23 return. Surprisingly, for 11 weeks straight since April 29, the show has held a spot on Nielsen’s weekly U.S. ranking of streaming originals.
After Seasons 1 and 2 were released on Netflix, Evil climbed to No. 2 on Nielsen’s chart for a whole month. It even made it onto Nielsen’s more competitive overall ranking three times.
At last count, Evil was No. 5 among streaming originals with over 400 million minutes watched on both Paramount+ and Netflix.
