Exciting news for Emily in Paris fans: Netflix has confirmed the show’s return for a fifth season.
This announcement comes just four days after the release of Part 2 of Season 4 on September 12.
“We’re thrilled with the incredible response to this season of Emily in Paris and excited to return for a fifth to continue Emily’s adventures in Rome and Paris!” said creator Darren Star in a statement.
Although the show is called Emily in Paris, Season 4 saw Emily heading off to Italy. In the finale (spoilers ahead!), she was enjoying a romantic getaway with Marcello in Rome when Sylvie showed up. Sylvie wanted to turn Emily’s vacation into a work trip by getting Marcello’s family business as a client. Initially, Emily told Marcello she was there for him, not work. However, Marcello’s mother loved Emily’s ideas and insisted she manage the account, putting her in charge of Agence Grateau’s Rome office.
We think it’s fun when characters switch locations; it keeps things interesting for fans.
After Season 4B aired, Star mentioned that whether Emily’s move would be permanent was still “to be determined,” since the renewal hadn’t been announced yet. Even so, he felt that the new location “just expands the universe of the show.”
“Just as Emily gets comfy in Paris, she’s thrown into another country where she’ll face new cultural differences,” he said. “And we explore those differences between French and Italians. It’s a whole new world, but it doesn’t mean we’re leaving Paris.”
Fans gave Season 4 and its finale an average grade of “B+.” Are you excited about Season 5? Share your thoughts below!
