Get ready for more drama as Season 2 of The Diplomat premieres on October 31, just in time for Halloween.
Season 1 of the Netflix political drama left us on the edge of our seats back in April 2023. Kate Wyler and Austin Dennison were in big trouble after discovering the truth about the British aircraft carrier attack. At the same time, a car explosion seemed to have killed Kate’s husband Hal and her deputy, Stuart Hayford.
The new teaser trailer confirms that both Hal and Stuart survived the explosion. Plus, Allison Janney will join the cast as U.S. Vice President Grace Penn.
Netflix didn’t waste any time renewing The Diplomat for a second season, doing so just ten days after the first season dropped. The show quickly became a hit, ranking number one on Netflix’s Top 10 list with 57.48 million hours watched during its debut weekend.
“Fans around the world are loving every minute of The Diplomat’s gripping and propulsive drama, and embracing Keri’s powerful performance,” Netflix’s VP of Drama Series Jinny Howe said in a statement at the time. “After that jaw-dropping cliffhanger, we can’t wait for them to see what the amazing visionary team of [series creator] Debora Cahn, [and fellow EPs] Janice Williams, Alex Graves and Keri have in store for Season 2.”
We can’t wait to see what happens next!
