Dancing With the Stars Boss Defends Casting Anna Delvey for Season 33

Anna Delvey, who once pretended to be a socialite, is now going to be on Dancing With the Stars, and not everyone is happy about it.

One person who supports her is Conrad Green, the show’s boss. In an interview with Variety, he said that having her on the show for Season 33 is “very valid and interesting.”

Green explained that the show has always welcomed people from all sorts of backgrounds. “Anna is fascinating to a lot of people,” he said. “A lot of people have watched the dramas about her life and have followed her story, so I think there is an inherent curiosity about her.”

Fans often get curious about such choices. It makes us wonder why some people get these opportunities.

Green thinks Delvey will surprise everyone with her dancing skills. He believes “people really want to see her. She’s a very valid and interesting part of that cast.”

“Yes, she had the issues she’s had,” he said. “But we’ve had other people on the show who’ve had criminal issues in the past. She served her time. I think it’s perfectly valid for her to be on the show, and I think people have been really curious to see how she performs.”

For Season 33, Delvey will dance with Ezra Sosa, who is new to the show. Back in 2019, Delvey was found guilty of several crimes like grand larceny and theft after pretending to be a rich heiress in New York. Julia Garner played Delvey in Netflix’s Inventing Anna.

This month, some people were not happy about Delvey being on Dancing With the Stars. Whoopi Goldberg and Alyssa Farah Griffin from The View even talked about it, saying she got special treatment and still owes money to people she tricked. Delvey fired back, telling them they should “at least get your facts straight.”

“I served my time and paid everyone back in full 3+ years ago,” she wrote. “Looking forward to your on-air correction.”

Dancing With the Stars will be back on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 8/7c on ABC and Disney+.
