– CNN to launch its new streaming service
– CNN Plus debuts in March 2023
– Exclusive and interactive content for subscribers
CNN is set to enter the streaming market with the launch of its new streaming service, CNN Plus, in March 2022. The platform will provide exclusive, interactive, and live content that goes beyond its traditional news coverage. CNN Plus will focus on offering live, on-demand, and interactive programming, giving subscribers the ability to customize their viewing experience with access to new original content.
Programming on CNN Plus will feature live and unscripted content, interviews, and documentaries, which will be separated from its cable network offerings. This digital service aims to complement the existing CNN content without overlapping with its cable network. CNN will also invest in the development of new shows and content exclusively made for CNN Plus subscribers.
CNN Plus will up the ante in the streaming competition, especially competing with major players such as Disney+, Peacock, HBO Max, and Netflix. CNN President and Co-Chairman, Jeff Zucker, stated, “CNN invented cable news in 1980, defined online news in 1995, and now is taking an important step in expanding what news can be by launching a direct-to-consumer streaming subscription service in 2022.”
Additionally, CNN Plus will incorporate interactive elements for subscribers, such as live Q&A sessions with experts and special guests. The platform aims to connect viewers with its news content, giving them a more immersive experience. The pricing for CNN Plus is yet to be announced, but an ad-based version is expected later in 2023.
As the streaming market continues to grow, CNN’s foray into streaming could reshape and solidify its position as a leading news provider, now with an added digital and interactive edge for subscribers.
