Apple TV+’s show “City on Fire” will not return for a second season, making it the first major series from the streaming platform not to be renewed. The drama was created by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, who also served as executive producers.

Adapted from Garth Risk Hallberg’s novel with the same name, “City on Fire” was set in 1980s New York and followed the story of a college student who finds herself entangled in a dark investigation following a violent incident in Greenwich Village. As the story unfolds, it unravels a web of corruption, deceit, and passion crossing different walks of life in the city.

The show’s ensemble cast was led by Sarah Gadon, who played the central character Samantha. Other cast members included Shea Whigham, Anthony Boyle, and Tony Award-winner Ben Platt. The series was produced by Fake Empire Productions, in collaboration with Apple Studios.
