Hulu has renewed the comedy series Chad Powers for a second season, the streaming platform announced Thursday.
The renewal comes just weeks after the freshman comedy completed its 10-episode first season run, which debuted to strong viewership numbers according to the streamer.
Chad Powers stars Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick, Anyone But You) as the titular character, a former college quarterback who returns to campus undercover as a walk-on player after a professional career fails to materialize.
“We’re thrilled with the reception Chad Powers has received from both critics and viewers,” said Jordan Harper, Head of Original Programming at Hulu. “Glen’s performance has resonated with audiences in a way that exceeded our expectations.”
The series, created by executive producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, The Lego Movie), was inspired by the viral ESPN segment featuring Eli Manning going undercover as “Chad Powers” at Penn State football tryouts.
Production on the second season is expected to begin in early 2025, with the the premiere slated for later that year.
Supporting cast members Emma Stone (Poor Things), Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso) and Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary) are all expected to return for the sophomore season.
The renewal adds to Hulu‘s growing slate of original comedies, which includes Only Murders in the Building, The Bear, and the recently launched Interior Chinatown.
