CBS Renews NCIS, Matlock, and 8 Other Shows – Which Series Remain in Limbo?

CBS announced Thursday that it has renewed NCIS, Matlock, and eight additional series for the 2024-25 broadcast season.

The network confirmed the return of its flagship crime drama NCIS for a remarkable 22nd season. The long-running procedural continues to rank among television’s most-watched series despite its two-decade run.

Freshman legal drama Matlock, starring Kathy Bates as brilliant attorney Madeline “Matty” Matlock, earned a second season renewal following strong ratings performance in its debut year.

Among the additional renewals are FBI, FBI: Most Wanted, FBI: International, Fire Country, Ghosts, The Neighborhood, Survivor, and The Amazing Race.

“These series represent the powerful combination of creative excellence and audience appeal that has long been the hallmark of CBS programming,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, in a statement.

Several shows remain in limbo regarding their future. Blue Bloods is currently airing the first part of its 14th and final season, with remaining episodes scheduled for fall 2024. The Tom Selleck-led police drama will conclude its run after more than 275 episodes.

CSI: Vegas, So Help Me Todd, The Equalizer, Tracker, and Young Sheldon are still awaiting official word on their fates.

Tracker, starring Justin Hartley (This Is Us) as survivalist Colter Shaw, has performed exceptionally well in its Sunday timeslot, suggesting a renewal announcement may be forthcoming.

Meanwhile, Young Sheldon is confirmed to be ending with its current seventh season. The Big Bang Theory prequel will air its series finale on May 16.

The network is expected to make additional programming announcements ahead of its upfront presentation to advertisers in May.
