Bridgerton Renewed for Seasons 5 and 6 + Season 4 Sneak Peek Available

Netflix has greenlit Bridgerton for two additional seasons ahead of its fourth season premiere, securing the hit Regency romance through Season 6.

The streaming giant announced the early renewal Thursday while also releasing a first-look teaser for the upcoming fourth season.

“The Bridgerton universe continues to expand, and we couldn’t be more excited to spend more seasons in this world,” said Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, in a statement.

The Shonda Rhimes-produced series, based on Julia Quinn’s bestselling novels, has become one of the platform’s most successful original productions since its December 2020 debut. Season 3, which focused on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington’s (Nicola Coughlan) romance, premiered earlier this year to strong viewership numbers.

Season 4 will center on Benedict Bridgerton’s love story, following the pattern established in Quinn’s novels, though the series has occasionally deviated from the the original source material.

Executive producer Shonda Rhimes expressed enthusiasm about the multi-season renewal.

“We have planned out stories for all the Bridgerton siblings since the beginning, and it’s so gratifying to be able to continue telling these stories,” Rhimes said. “Audiences have embraced this world and these characters with such passion, and I’m thrilled we’ll be able to explore even more of the Bridgerton family saga.”

The brief Season 4 teaser released alongside the announcement features Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) contemplating his future while surrounded by his siblings.

Netflix has not yet announced a premiere date for Season 4, which is currently in production. The renewal news comes as the streamer continues to expand the Bridgerton universe, with prequel series Queen Charlotte having received acclaim following its release last year.

The first three seasons of Bridgerton are currently available to stream on Netflix.
