A Harry Potter movie star wishes HBO would add a little amortentia to the new series.
Bonnie Wright, known for playing Ginny Weasley, recently shared with Variety that she hopes the upcoming series explores more of Ginny and Harry’s relationship. In the books and movies, their love story unfolds after Harry meets Ron, Ginny’s brother. While the films touch on their romance, the books dive deeper into it.
“There’s nuanced moments of where they begin to fall in love,” Wright mentioned, emphasizing her desire to see these intricate details in the new show. She dreams of seeing Ginny’s growth into a loyal partner for Harry, someone who truly understands him and stands by his side.
Fans really want this too.
Even though Bonnie is busy with Food Network’s Wizards of Baking competition, hosted by James and Oliver Phelps (Fred and George Weasley), she won’t be part of HBO’s new Harry Potter series. “I’m happily just going to be watching,” she said.
The new series was announced in April 2023 as a “faithful adaptation” of J.K. Rowling’s beloved books. It will feature a fresh cast aimed at captivating a new generation while keeping all the magical details fans adore.
Francesca Gardiner, who has worked on shows like His Dark Materials and Succession, will be writing and running the series. Mark Mylod, known for his work on Succession, Game of Thrones, and Entourage, will direct several episodes. The show is set to debut in 2026.
