The tragic death of young actor Austin Majors has been revealed to be the result of an accidental fentanyl overdose. He was just 18 years old. Austin was best known for playing the role of Theo Sipowicz in the popular police drama series “NYPD Blue.”

Majors’ mother, Michelle Majors, confirmed the news of his passing on October 9, 2021. She posted a heartfelt tribute on her Instagram account, writing, “I come to you all with a heavy heart as I am a mother who has lost a child. On Saturday, October 9, 2021, my amazing, loving, caring, talented, smart, and beautiful son, Austin Alexandria Majors, passed away.”

Austin had made a lasting impression on audiences with his role as Theo Sipowicz in “NYPD Blue”, where he brilliantly portrayed the young son of Detective Andy Sipowicz, played by Emmy-winner Dennis Franz. He appeared in a total of 22 episodes between 2001 and 2004.

Additionally, he made guest appearances in TV shows like “The Practice” and “Family Law.” After leaving his acting career behind, Majors pursued an education in mechanical engineering and was given the Chemical Engineers Undergraduate Award. He had plans to continue his studies in the upcoming spring semester.

To honor her son’s memory, Michelle has started a fundraiser to create a scholarship fund called the Austin Alexandria Majors Mechanical Engineering Award. This will be awarded annually to a deserving student in a mechanical engineering program.

“I am so proud of what he accomplished, and I have no doubt he would have done a lot more in the future,” she wrote in her Instagram post. “I hope he can be remembered for the good times and the love he showed to everyone he came across!”
