Artem Chigvintsev, a familiar face from Dancing With the Stars, found himself in trouble on Thursday due to suspected domestic violence.
TMZ first reported, and it has since been confirmed, that Chigvintsev was taken to Napa County Jail on Thursday morning with a felony charge. His bail was set at $25,000.
Although Artem has been a regular on 12 out of the last 14 seasons of Dancing With the Stars, including last fall’s Season 32 where he finished fourth with Charity Lawson, he won’t be part of Season 33. The reason for his absence this time around hasn’t been shared. Since joining in Season 19, he’s only missed Seasons 21 and 28.
His wife, Nikki Garcia, who he met during Dancing’s 25th season, posted an Instagram Story on Wednesday hinting she was in Napa too. However, it’s unclear if she was involved in the alleged incident.
Reps for both Artem and Nikki have remained silent regarding requests for comments.
Dancing With the Stars is set to continue with its 33rd season starting Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 8/7c on ABC. So far, Stephen Nedoroscik, an Olympic gymnast, is confirmed as a contestant. The full list of celebrities will be announced on Good Morning America on Wednesday, Sept. 4. Pro dancer Witney Carson will return after missing last season; her partner hasn’t been revealed yet.
Sometimes fans just want things to go back to normal.
