Animal Control and Going Dutch Renewed at Fox

Fox has renewed two of its comedy series for the 2024-2025 broadcast season. The network announced Thursday that Animal Control will return for a third season while freshman series Going Dutch has secured a second season order.

Animal Control, the network’s first wholly owned live-action comedy, stars Joel McHale (former host of The Soup) as Frank, a misanthropic former cop who now works as an animal control officer. The series has maintained solid ratings in its second season, averaging 5.3 million viewers across all platforms.

“We’re thrilled to bring back both of these distinctive comedies,” said Michael Thorn, President of Scripted Programming at Fox. “Joel McHale and the entire Animal Control team have created a workplace comedy that resonates with our audience, while Going Dutch has quickly established itself as a fresh voice in our comedy lineup.”

Going Dutch, which premiered earlier this year, stars Reyn Doi as a Dutch exchange student navigating American high school culture. The series has performed particularly well with younger demographics and in digital viewing.

The renewal announcements come as Fox continues to solidify its programming slate ahead of the fall season. Both shows join previously renewed series The Cleaning Lady and Alert: Missing Persons Unit.

Production on the new seasons is expected to begin later this summer, with premiere dates to be announced in the coming months.

McHale serves as executive producer on Animal Control alongside Bob Fisher, Rob Greenberg, and Dan Sterling. The series also stars Vella Lovell, Michael Rowland, Grace Palmer, Ravi Patel, and Gerry Dee.

Going Dutch was created by David Windsor and Casey Johnson, who previously worked on This Is Us and The Real O’Neals. The show has been praised for its unique perspective on American cultural norms through the lens of an international student.
